After months of talking, anticipation and preparation team Yoga Leggs finally made our yoga active wear debut at this year’s Om Yoga Show. The venue; Alexandra Palace was a change from recent years. The surroundings and architecture were both historic and breathtaking, a thoroughly impressive new home for the yoga event of the year. By day two I had decided that time spent in this monumental building was comparable to a weekend in Vegas (without the gambling and alcohol of course)! All sense of time was lost, along with any clue of outside weather conditions. Cocooned in an exhibition bubble; primary focus Yoga Leggs.
On the Thursday before it all started we showed up with our enthusiasm, wristbands and high vis waistcoats and a mountain of leggings, sweatshirts and bags, I do have slightly hoarderish tendencies and my yoga leggs other half did comment on my optimism (she thought I was nuts) but as a veteran retailer (one of my many previous lives) team yoga leggs were not about to lose sales. So we managed to somehow make our tiny little stand E15 look presentable and find a place for everything (including us).
Did I mention we also made room for our friend Jackie from namastatements on the Friday. A fun addition to the Yoga Leggs stand. Especially when we sent her for a chat with The Orgasm Expert (yes he is a real person). We also made her try out her best moves for the very charming Luke Ayling in an attempt to be on the cover of om yoga magazine. Jackie was wearing sublime yoga leggs and a namastatements warrior not worrier Tee. You have to make the most of these opportunities when you can. Must say she was impressive, I however was chicken and could barely have managed a decent tree pose.
Highlights for us had to be the fact that we were actually there in the first place, as a very new business we took the plunge and dived in head first. What a fantastic response we received from the yoga community and such continued support from our family and yogi friends. Lots of instagramers came to say hi and there were quite a few pairs of yoga leggs walking around this year’s Om Yoga Show, how amazing for us to see the gorgeous face of the yoga show Abi Mills looking spectacular in a pair of perfectly pink yoga leggs and the super talented Claire Missingham showing off her rainbow kit bag and not forgetting the lovely Sally Parkes looking fab her paisley passion. Pretty good hey?
The downside; honestly I think we both felt that we missed the yoga show. As yogis and lifelong spiritual junkies, it’s one of our favourite days out. Less enlightened friends have been known to stare in amazement as we recall fab times of chanting, meditation and aura readings. Not an incense stick, crystal or angel card was purchased (I feel robbed)! Although Becki did treat me to a Chranket (chakra blanket) and I may have snuck into The Mind Body Soul Experience on route to the loo and had a little Jyorei healing on the last day (there was a spare seat) I felt guilty! The only stand we really saw was Buddha Pants (they were opposite)!
On a personal level, it took me a week to catch up with the housework and washing! It reached crisis point. Note to self; never slip into a coma for more than four days, its hard work being a business womum. That said team yoga leggs will see you next year, same time, same place, bigger stand, more leggs.
