Hello Yogis,
In my last/first post, I had started to share with you the journey that has brought me to where I am today, and had left you at the point where I decided to kick my ‘black’ habit and inject colour in my yoga practice.
Having been inspired by my instructors Amy and Leanne at the Hot Yoga House, I wanted to find some funky leggings for my practice but I knew it was going to be a challenge. The reason I had always worn black was to hide my lumps and bumps, and just because I wanted colour didn’t mean I was ready to show the world (or at least the rest of the studio) all my imperfections!
Call me vain, but I do try to wear clothes that suit my body shape, and skin tight coloured leggings can be very unforgiving as I am sure you appreciate. I feared this may be a mission!
I knew they needed to be technical leggings (compression a must!), and of a decent quality so as not to be see through! This ruled out the cheap end of the market, leading me to the better end of the branded market.
Excluding the top two yoga brands (not enough colour and funkiness for me!) there didn’t seem to be a whole lot of choice coming up on a google search and it became apparent I would need to dig deeper.
I didn’t want running leggings as the zips are too uncomfortable in the yoga studio, and I definitely wanted something flattering for my shape, and of course colourful and funky. This would definitely require more effort!
As my search progressed it occurred to me that surely I couldn’t be the only person looking for funky yet functional leggings, there must others and they must be facing the same challenge as me, of where to find them!
Was this a gap in the market? Could there be an opportunity for me to create something here? I was suddenly excited and inspired that I could create something that helped to fulfil the needs of not only myself, but my fellow yogis, also searching for their perfect legging.
At this point, my search evolved from being a purely personal one and my approach broadened to explore this potential hole in the market that could be a one stop shop for the perfect yoga legging, Scarlett Sun was slowly forming!
Namaste!
