When you get an email from Om Magazine asking you to forward eight or nine of your best lifestyle photos from your latest collection of yoga clothing to feature in their upcoming fashion spread and you don’t actually have any, what do you do? Oh and did I mention that there is a deadline!!!
Well obviously first and foremost you panic (just a little). Did I also mention how they are expecting great things as they loved our previous campaign so much (more panic). Then we laugh, it’s so typically us. The rest of the clothing industry seems to be at least six months ahead of time. Lucky us that we are still a relatively new business, and we both love that we are still able to put the Yoga into our Leggs (for now anyway). Going with the flow and being mindful, enjoying the moment and trusting the process without attachment and expectation, having a little faith. Aren’t these phrases we hear continuously during class? But how many of us truly live our yoga? Especially at work.
Here at Yoga Leggs HQ we are very much about Mother Nature, natural beauty and real women. Of course all women are real; it would be judgemental to suggest that just because somebody has the perfect body and a beautiful face and happens to be 21 that they are less authentic in any way. (I say enjoy every precious, superficial second) Complaining that somebody is too thin or too pretty is the same as condemning somebody for being too fat or too ugly (it’s all Judgement) strangely enough we were all set to use an actual real life professional model, but the yogi gods stepped in and had other ideas and gave us real life Yogis instead. In the form of our gorgeous ambassador Abigail Adams and the beautiful Emma Morreale. What makes them special in our eyes is the fact that they genuinely wear and love our Yoga leggs (that’s real). Our super talented local photographer Daniel Rouse was in too. Becki consulted with the weather Guru (her I phone) and we somehow managed to arrange a day that we could all attend. (A yoga miracle).
So location location location, are we thinking Rio, Thailand, Goa? How about Connaught Waters Chingford (we had a budget!)And we happen to love Trees and ducks and some of us (change that to all of us) have children to look after (we had a curfew too). Let’s just say we were keeping it very real. And ok it might be a freezing cold slightly wet January day, but we are British and Yogic (even Dan is married to a yoga teacher) and we can do this without moaning.(can’t we?) Unless it actually snows (which it didn’t) Trust the process. (Would have been pretty though).
Highlights of our spontaneous emergency forest photo shoot included watching Dan do his thing, working his magic and seeing the light and the trees and the clouds in a way that we just might have missed. Nothing being too much trouble for Abi who truly lives her yoga in every aspect of her life (hope her feet have warmed up!)And meeting the fabulously brave Emma who didn’t complain even when her favourite high heeled boots got covered in mud (did I mention how much mud there was!!!!)And gave of herself exactly what we needed, her semi naked inner goddess (sorry to the lovely Elderly Irish ladies that may have glimpsed more than just the swans during their afternoon stroll; it was only yoga!). Lastly being able to use our local area, working with like minded local people, enjoying the process and creating something special for our business (we kept the faith) that is what we love to do. (Who needs to go to Rio?)
