MENOPAUSE 🥴😳🥵😫🤪
Menopause is a fact of life, we are all going to go through it ladies it doesn’t have to be a dreaded process it’s not all bad it’s a natural process of our bodies moving into the next stage of our lives. Going through the transition can create lots of emotional and physical effects :
Weight gain, dry skin and hair, low energy, low sex drive, mood swings, brain fog, anxiety, hot flashes to name a few.
I believe when we educate ourselves and are prepared with the right tools we can deal with it and aid our bodies rather than try to fight it. At different stages of life we need to adapt our diet and lifestyle accordingly. Mother Nature is telling us it’s time to take care of YOU. Self-care should be a huge part of the transition. Let’s embrace it. ❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Estrogen levels start to drop and continue to do so over the process, this will impact the (hypothalamus) part of the brain which is the bodies thermostat which regulates sleep, hormones, mood and appetite we need to get our hormones balanced it will affect our weight our mood our symptoms our skin etc.
HERBS 🌿🍃
Herbs and foods contain hormones, each herb is used for different symptoms also dosage will vary so u do need to be guided by a professional naturopath. Here are a few herbs I use with my ladies that are struggling( general menopause supplements don’t have high enough dose of any of these to make a difference) also eating or drinking is far more effective than a pill.
Ginseng, Ashwagandha, Primrose oil, Red clover, Maca, Black Cohosh, Yams, Holy Basil, Licorice root.
DIET 🥦🥑🥬🥒
This is the most important time of your life to be embarking on a healthy diet. ( it’s vital for balancing hormones also keeping your gut working properly the hub of all health problems). We need to be eating fresh, organic fruit and vegetables in abundance. EVERYDAY. Our metabolism slows down so we need less food. ( HIIT training and activities like so will keep your metabolic rate up). What you eat will affect your symptoms, declining estrogen levels impact your metabolism and how you digest carbs. We should be eating lots of GOOD FATS omega 3s oily fish and seeds are a must every day 1/2 teaspoon of chia or flax or sesame seeds will level off your hormones. Good fats are essential as we actually make our hormones from cholesterol. Food has such power to help and heal our bodies and it’s something we have control over. It will have a huge impact on how we look and feel. PHYTO-OESTROGENS – soya milk, linseeds, miso get them in your diet ladies. FERMENTED FOOD every day 1 tablespoon is enough kimchi, sauerkraut, kefir etc we need a healthy gut most physical and mental disease originates in the digestive system. Fermented foods take care of yourself gut and help balance hormones. Eat real food no processed rubbish full of chemicals and sugar buy fresh and organic whenever possible. If u want a steak occasionally buy grass-fed organic, we should be 70% plant-based but if you are going to eat meat buy the best quality u can.
EXERCISE 🧘♂️🏋🏼♂️🤸🏻♀️🏄♀️
Exercise works wonders for menopausal women it will boost serotonin levels thereby improving your mood, your appetite and helping you sleep. Weight training, in particular, is good for us girls and I don’t mean squaring with a 100 kg strapped to your back I mean some small dumbbell action will make a lot of difference. It naturally helps balance hormones whilst helping maintain muscle mass which is important for preventing weight gain, it also strengthens your bones to combat osteoporosis another condition which can come along with menopause. 🥴🥵🤪😫
MEDITATION 🧘♀️🙏🏻❤️
Managing stress levels meditation, breathing, baths, painting, walking, quiet time, yoga, golf whatever you can do whilst being mindful and in the moment (switch off)needs to be practised daily. Meditation helps balance hormones cortisol our stress hormone creates havoc with our hormones, we spend our lives on a treadmill chasing the next thing keeping our bodies in fight or flight mode adrenaline pumping we need to stop and breath. It doesn’t have to be for a long time 5 mins of breath control can bring your cortisol down by 70%. Cortisol filled bodies will increase the sugar in your bloodstream making you crave more it will lower your immunity and suppress your digestive system it’s a huge stress on our bodies and health. JUST BREATHING mindfully can change that literally instantly. Meditation will normalise blood pressure and heart rate and release good hormone serotonin and oxytocin, the love hormone. We could all do with a bit more love in our lives. ❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
HIDDEN HORMONE DISRUPTORS
Finally, you need to take a look at the chemicals you are putting on your skin. Hidden hormone disruptors in Beauty products totally mess up your endocrine system (your glands) and have a Knock on effect. Our endocrine system produces and regulates hormones so we don’t want to be upsetting it further. Go natural with all that you can. We are surrounded by pollutants and chemicals everywhere we go so it can be really difficult but we can do our best to eliminate as much as we can.
On the whole, we need to look at the bigger picture listen to our bodies take some time for ourselves and don’t stress out. BE KIND TO YOURSELF. ❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Big love to all you fabulous ladies we got this. ❤️
