TOOLS TO GET THROUGH
The energies are so heavy right now, and things feel so ‘stop and start’. Wave after wave of tense emotions and obstacles seem to be washing over us all.
In the Northern Hemisphere, our weather is a little behind this time last year. It’s as if nature is reluctant to come out of winter lockdown. We are feeling the same perhaps. On one hand, we can’t wait to see and hug friends and family. On the other hand, we are so out of practice at being with people it’s all a bit daunting and draining. We really have been through so much.
As we emerge and go about our daily lives, I would like to share some tools that have helped me claim my power:
I have tuned into my authenticity and let go of what people think.
I have tuned into my self-compassion and let go of perfectionism.
I am working on cultivating gratitude and joy, which means letting go of scarcity and fear.
I am making a special effort to play and rest by letting go of my obsession with productivity and linking it with my self-worth.
I am cultivating calm and stillness by letting go of anxiety as a lifestyle.
I am also nourishing my intuition and faith, meaning I am letting go of the need for certainty.
So, as you can see, this is a time for a lot of letting go, shedding all the unhelpful stuff that is weighing us down and making us tired. There is no room for anything fresh and new while we carry such old musty burdens. All these images and rules about how we should fit in. Let’s quit worshipping the image of how we should be instead of who we really are on a soul level. We are okay as we are. Nobody gets to certify us, there is no finish line.
Another great and (annoyingly simple) tool is to take time just to sit where you are, breathing with bare feet on the earth. Yes, just that. To have to ‘be’ anything is exhausting. What’s it like to just sit and be alive? What emotions arise? It’s okay to feel them, you don’t get rid of thoughts and feelings by the way. It’s all about the moment, those precious times. If we can sit and rest, no matter what we are going through, and be who we are (thoughts and feelings included) awake in the moment, then we are winning.
I have dark coloured crystals like black tourmaline or apache tears about my person to absorb negative energies. Consider booking in for a regular Reiki session to relax your body and clear your energy centres. I listen to a guided meditation and take salt baths. Try getting outside and walk in nature, sing, dance and take a yoga class or a gong bath. Bless your water, clear out your home clutter, smudge your house and eat well.
Handling the expectations of others and my own is also working for me. I don’t allow my diary to fill up or agree to be at the beck and call of others. Don’t be ashamed of saying you are taking things slowly. It is okay to tell people you are struggling, vulnerability is the centre of whole-hearted living, let go of always being cool and in control.
I have identified safe spaces to nourish myself and be heard in. This may be your yoga studio, a women’s circle, a particular friend’s house, a councillor, a family member. These are so valuable and places where you can decompress and be witnessed with no backlash or consequence. Places where you can be you!
Value yourself and affirm that value, congratulate yourself for making any progress and surviving. Celebrate the little things and be really kind to yourself, even if it is just for treading water – that is a big win right now!
I am constantly working on my boundaries too, remembering that I cannot manage the unmanageable or rescue people. I remind myself that sacrifice is not love and that sometimes saying ‘no’ in the long-term helps that person more than if I agreed to their demands. We are not responsible for any other adults, and we have a right to enjoy our lives as we wish.
It is well worth putting the time into defining what it is you really want in life and who you really want to be on a soul level, without worrying about the judgement of others. What is your soul-aligned life goal? An Akashic reading can help you identify this and give guidance on how to take your first steps along your soul path. This will bring such positive change to your life. It is amazing how problems and blocks fall away and how must more energised you feel when walking along your soul path.
As you begin each day, imagine yourself surrounded in a protective bubble of white light filled with pink light as self-love for you. Knowing you are just perfect as you are every day of your life. For I really have nothing to teach you, and you have nothing to learn. It is all within you, waiting to be heard as you sit, barefoot on the earth, breathing. It’s okay, you’re safe.
