Okay, so where do I begin in the manic life of Nicole! I am full time university student studying Sports Coaching and physical Education. I decided to go to university a bit later on in life (at the age of 28) after deciding I wanted a career change. I was a personal Trainer for five years prior going to university and loved it!, loved helping people reach their goals and change their lives. I have always been into exercising myself and always loved the gym and considered myself quite strong. In 2012 I decided to pursue my strength training and found myself a powerlifting coach and within a few months I was signed up to the British Drug Free Powerlifting Association and was ready for my first competition. After just two competitions I had broken the BDFPA squat British record in my weight class of 55 kilos, happy days!!
I then became an ambassador for the renowned fitness brand Sweaty Betty and have been teaching a number of classes in the store since. Part of my ambassador role is to promote health and fitness in Oxford and I am often being sent on different courses to learn new classes. This is how I stumbled across Barre and I have been in love with it ever since. I went on a two day course in London in 2013 and have been teaching it in Sweaty Betty since, amongst other studious such as Downdog and Crow. Last year I decided to quit powerlifting competitively due to constant aches and pains in my body and took up yoga and I am really enjoying it and enjoying not having such a sore body! I am loving the yoga and loving trying out all the different types of yoga classes, theres so much to learn! So that’s me, I have gone from a screaming, aggressive powerlifter to a calm, relaxed yogi and barre enthusiast! I still love a good old weights session but nothing like the weights I used to do, I look back and wonder how the hell I lifted half the weights I did! I have recently signed up for a half marathon so I guess I’d better get running too!
