Work. What emotions does that word evoke?
But more importantly, HOW do you work? Are you an entrepreneur who works from home or an employee who works in an office space? Do these environments inspire your creativity to create different approaches to your goals and to work smarter (not necessarily harder)?
10 years ago, my approach to work was to get to the office as quick as I could (most probably hung over from the night before), so I could get it over and done with and get back out socialising (again). Towards the end of my office career, I hated going in. The journey rattled me and everyone agitated me. Monday mornings were hard (my mum would never phone me on a Monday as it was just too much of an intense conversation).
Why am I asking all these questions? Well, because I believe that we can all bring an element of joy into our working lives. The 9-5 is slowly changing as people choose to LIVE life, rather than work their socks off for a pension so they can enjoy 5-10 years until they die. But how do we live our lives when we’re working?
Whilst in Bali for the Spirit Festival in 2015, I was introduced to Hubud, the co-working space that is WAY more than just sharing office space. This initiative inspires you to bring your dream and make it happen by engaging with others, offering inspirational talks, workshops and retreats, whilst enjoying locally grown coffee and healthy juices to nurture your everything. What a way to work! Could this work in the UK?
Before working for myself I worked in an office in the West End of London. The razzle-dazzle of work parties was what kept me hooked at the start, along with the eclectic bunch of people I worked with. It was so much fun, but then as I got older it didn’t serve me anymore. I’m a creative who loves to move, paint, sing, and dance. So sitting for hours on end at my desk was leaving me feeling zapped of life and joy. It took a lot to leave that job as I’d been there for such a long time and knew how it went, which was easier than the unknown of my dreams. The thing I miss most about the office is the banter; the laughs and the support when you’re down. And this is why myself and my best mate, India Majury, decided to create The Creative Woodford Workspace. Here you will be able to bring your work into a friendly and motivating environment. This day is dedicated to helping you grow and develop your business, ideas and health with optional workshops, movement/yoga and organic coffee and food. Less than 20 minutes from Liverpool Street and only a 7-minute walk from Woodford tube station (central line), we are easily accessible by public transport, car (free parking), or by foot.
Join us on Tuesday 17th July with both Abi Adams (movement coach) and India Majury (Health Kinesiologist), at an open house event in Woodford, East London. This magical day is catered for your entrepreneurial needs.
The doors will be open between 10 am and 3 pm. With a productive workspace for laptops, wifi, inspirational chat and/or quiet space available. Pay for individual experiences, such as wifi and coffee, a yoga class or kinesiology session, or buy the entire day and save money.
The doors will be open, you just need to turn up and get creative!
